Quick take

A collapsible landing net with a triangular hoop and deeper bag for holding larger fish.

This compact landing net pairs a fixed aluminum handle with a rubber-coated nylon net, and the rubber mesh helps keep treble hooks from snagging. It reaches 28.3 inches with a 13.8-inch net depth, and it folds down with a belt clip for carrying. Its size suits kayak and bank anglers releasing trout, bass and catfish in fresh or salt water.

Best for

  • Bank fishing where you need quick hand placement
  • Saltwater species like catfish and stripers
  • Fish that need a deeper bag to prevent escape

Skip if

  • You fish tight cover where a fixed handle snags often
  • You need a ultralight net for hiking to remote water

Strengths

  • Triangular hoop focuses the net opening for efficient capture
  • 13.8 inch depth holds larger fish than round nets of the same size
  • Rubber mesh is non-absorbent and does not chafe fish

Trade-offs

  • Fixed handle does not collapse for travel as compactly as telescopic nets
  • Triangular frame is less common and harder to replace if damaged
  • 5 mm mesh can still catch treble hooks without care during netting
