Quick take
An aluminum fish gripper with a built-in scale and rotatable handle that weighs and holds fish without damaging the lip.
This Night Cat lip gripper is an aluminum grabber with a built-in suspension scale, so one tool holds a fish by the lip and gives you its weight. The scale reads up to 18 kg (40 lb), and the handle rotates 360 degrees with a non-slip grip and a lanyard. It suits anglers who want to land, weigh and release a catch quickly with one hand.
Best for
- Catch-and-release photography with weight data
- Handling aggressive fish that need secure restraint
- Quick weighing at the boat or bank
Skip if
- You need precise weight measurements for large fish over 40 lb
- You fish in heavy cover where you cannot safely lift the fish
Strengths
- 360-degree rotating handle lets you weigh and photograph fish at any angle
- Durable aluminum construction resists saltwater corrosion
- Non-slip grip and lanyard reduce risk of losing the gripper
Trade-offs
- 40 lb capacity limits use on large catfish, sturgeon or saltwater species
- Scale accuracy depends on level positioning
- Aluminum can still corrode over time in saltwater despite coating
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
