Quick take

A black reel grease formulated for superior lubricity and rust protection in saltwater environments.

PENN Reel Grease is a lubricant for the gears and moving parts inside a reel, made to guard against corrosion in saltwater use. This 2 oz tub is a compact size to keep in a tackle bag for routine reel upkeep. It suits anglers who fish salt and want a dedicated grease instead of a general-purpose lubricant.

Best for

  • Reel maintenance after saltwater fishing trips
  • Reels that see heavy use and need regular servicing
  • Anglers who maintain their own gear

Skip if

  • You use an all-in-one reel oil
  • Your reels are sealed and maintenance-free

Strengths

  • Superior rust protection in saltwater
  • Wide temperature range handles all conditions
  • Thick grease stays in place better than oil

Trade-offs

  • Grease attracts dirt and sand more than liquid oil
  • Overapplication makes reels sluggish
  • Black color hard to see for even application

  • Freshwater
  • Saltwater
