Quick take
A floating jerkbait with loud rattle that mimics wounded baitfish, retrieved with jerks for erratic side-to-side movement.
A floating, rattling jerkbait measuring 4.5 inches and about a third of an ounce. The Sunbeam Golden Bass pattern gives it a baitfish look for casting to bass or trolling for walleye. Its rolling action works when shallow fish are feeding upward.
Best for
- Spring and shallow water bass and walleye
- Trolling where rattle calls fish from distance
- Anglers using jerking retrieves to trigger aggressive strikes
Skip if
- You fish deep water where shallow floaters cannot reach
- You need a silent lure for clear-water presentations
Strengths
- Loud rattle calls fish from deep and discolored water
- Wounded baitfish action results from rolling retrieve pattern
- Floating design returns to surface between jerks for realistic motion
Trade-offs
- Rattle can spook selective fish in clear water under low-light conditions
- Erratic action requires skill to execute correctly and maintain depth
- Treble hooks snag heavily on weeds and wood; clean water necessary
