Quick take

Heavy-duty steel anchors that screw into ice without pilot holes.

This nine-piece steel ice anchor kit is made for anglers who stake down a shelter on the ice. The wide flights bite into the ice, and the anchors are self-tapping, so no pilot holes are needed. A carrying case with a hook-and-loop closure keeps the set together for the walk out.

Best for

  • Securing ice shelters against wind
  • Anchoring in thick ice
  • Keeping gear in place on windy days

Skip if

  • You fish thin ice under 4 inches
  • You move locations frequently

Strengths

  • Self-tapping flights eliminate need to pre-drill pilot holes
  • Wide flights bite quickly and hold securely in ice
  • Rugged steel construction stands up to repeated use and rough handling

Trade-offs

  • Heavy steel adds weight to your ice fishing setup
  • 9-piece kit may be more anchors than solo anglers need
  • Cannot be driven in by hand; requires manual screwing or drill adapter
